Joshua Brown
Joshua F. Brown graduated with a BA in Theatre Education and a Dance Minor at Ohio Wesleyan University. He trained with Inlet Dance Theatre for three years before being promoted to Company Member in 2007. Joshua performs to sold out enthusiastic audiences, is the lead instructor for Ohio Arts Council residencies in their Artist in Residence Program and engages in the collaborative building of Inlet’s repertory. He is also the Event Services Coordinator for Inlet. He loves working with others, whether that means performing alongside his fellow Inlet dancers, helping to create new work with them, drawing movement out of students for education or choreography, or finding new ways to use dance to bring shared vision to life. He performed in and helped to build Elu Dance Company’s inaugural piece about sex trafficking in 2011 and in summer of 2012 he collaborated with two biomedical engineers to create a piece for Ingenuity Festival called Life Illuminated. In 2008 Josh experienced the glorious privilege to travel with Inlet to Easter Island to learn, perform, teach, and exchange culture as part of the Ohio Arts Council’s International Artist Exchange Program. In 2014 Joshua was awarded a Creative Workforce Fellowship through the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture, supported by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. When not dancing professionally he can usually be found playing geeky games, having Nerf wars, hosting tea parties, picking apples, and having no shame on the party dance floor.
