Joan Wojcicki Fortney
Joan began her musical journey first on clarinet and flute, until finally deciding on the oboe in high school. She earned her Bachelor degree in Music Performance from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her Master degree in Music Performance from Kent State University, where she held a graduate assistantship and taught a methods class for undergraduate education majors.
After a pause in her music career, she returned to learn the cello in 2011 and found a new love! Studying with esteemed professionals in the area, she embraced solo, chamber, and orchestral music from a fresh perspective.
Joan has been an active member of several community orchestras in the area including the TrueNorth Chamber Orchestra, LCCC Community Orchestra, Heights Chamber Orchestra and Symphony West Orchestra. Joan also performed with the Ohio City Cello Choir, as well as various recitals in the area. Joan loves chamber music and holds a deep appreciation for Romantic-era repertoire.
When not participating in music, Joan works as a Full Stack Software Developer at the Cleveland Guardians Baseball team. She and her husband Rick enjoy spending time at their campground in Marblehead, OH.
